About Andy

From a blog post about Andy

Andy Leaf is a gutsy guy. At 25, I think, he decided to quite his lucrative PR job in the San Francisco area and ride his bicycle. Well, it's more than just a ride, I suppose. It's a 1,000 mile journey from Vancouver, BC to San Francisco. "I decided that I just don't like to work," Andy says.
We met Andy recently in a campground in the Olympics. After sharing a campfire with him, we learned he'd eventually be passing through Portland... and we offered him a place to stay.
Andy just passed briefly through our lives, but his story is inspirational. In some ways, I'm a bit jealous. In many others, I'm glad I'm Mr. Career Man. But it's cool to meet someone who's willing to risk it all just 'cuz.

Andy's West Coast Bike Ride - A Success!

Bay Area Wilderness Training is proud to have partnered with Andrew Leaf as he completed his 1,205 miles (2,008 km) ride from Vancouver, BC in Canada to San Francisco, California. Andy's goal was to raise $2,500 or 2.07 cents per mile for Bay Area Wilderness Training.

Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) depends on the support of its donors to continue its critical education programs. Please contribute to BAWT in support of Andy's Bike Ride with a generous tax-deductible donation. By sponsoring Andy you are helping improve access to the wilderness for urban youth who might not otherwise be able to experience the power of nature as a transformative learning tool. 100 % of the money raised will go to support the efforts of BAWT! All costs associated with the ride itself will be paid for by Andy.
