Why is Kyle leaving BAWT? Is he leaving on good terms?
Just like he founded BAWT 12 years ago, Kyle is leaving to found a new organization that will replicate BAWT’s successful model across the nation. Earth Island Institute, the BAWT Board of Directors and staff fully support Kyle’s new endeavor.
When is Kyle leaving? Is he staying in the Bay Area?
Kyle is stepping down in September 2012, and plans to stay in San Francisco, where he lives with his wife and two children.
Who will take over when Kyle leaves? Is there a transition/succession plan?
BAWT will hire a new CEO & Executive Director to continue and grow BAWT’s mission. For over a year, a subcommittee of the Board of Directors has worked closely with Kyle, the BAWT board, staff and executive transition consultants to plan and implement a transition and succession plan.
What is the timeline for the transition?
The timeline for executive transition is designed to allow for a smooth and seamless transition between Kyle and the incoming CEO & Executive Director. Here are key dates for the executive transition:
- May 2nd: Executive Director job announcement is posted
- June 1st: Deadline to Apply for Executive Director Position
- June – July: Candidates are screened and interviewed
- August: Executive Director hired
- August/September: Kyle and incoming Executive Director transition
How will Kyle’s departure/transition affect BAWT? Will BAWT continue to operate?
BAWT will continue to accomplish its mission of helping you get youth outdoors! Our outdoor leadership courses will continue; our gear library will be here for you; you will still reach great peaks with Climbing for Kids; and most importantly, BAWT’s dedicated staff and volunteers will continue to be here for you too!
