1. Create your outdoor adventure

Do you love the outdoors? Want to save the environment and help young people by doing what you love? Plan an outdoor adventure that benefits at-risk kids!

Outdoor Adventures for Kids matches outdoor enthusiasts with fundraising know-how so that they can use their activities to raise money that will get deserving youth outdoors. Through OAK, you can turn just about any activity into a fundraiser: a kayaking trip, a bike ride, an alpine traverse… the possibilities are endless!

Our goal is to give a deeper level of meaning to peoples’ personal outdoor adventures. We hope to accomplish our goal in two key ways. First, we empower outdoor enthusiasts to make a difference in kids’ lives. For every $1,000 you raise for BAWT through your outdoor adventure, 17 at-risk and underprivileged youth the chance to experience the outdoors first-hand. Second, Outdoors Adventures for Kids gives you a chance to challenge yourself and demonstrate leadership and creativity by creating and leading your own personalized fundraising project.

The first step is to create your Outdoor Adventure for Kids – your OAK. Just about any outdoor activity can be turned into an outdoor adventure for kids.

Some examples of activities include: Bike rides, swims, runs, rock climbs, thru-hikes, backpacking trips, kayaking, canoeing, triathalons, or cragging. Casual outdoor adventures can also make great fundraisers: camping trips, sports days, bird watching, barbeques, or other gatherings in the great outdoors. See our Hall of Fame for other examples.

So, what’s your OAK? The possibilities are endless!

2. Register and create your webpage

Register and create your webpage - it's easy!

Setting up a fundraising webpage for your outdoor adventure is easy – it will take you less than 5 minutes to get started.

First, click here to register online and tell us a little bit about your OAK. What do you plan to do? What are your fundraising goals? It’s fine if your plans change, but for now we’d like to get a basic idea.

3. Raise funds!

Tell your friends and family about your outdoor adventure! Ask for their financial support to help raise money for BAWT and get youth outdoors.

Get credit card donations online through your personal webpage that's easy to customize, or simply have your donors write a check.

Many volunteers have increased their fundraising through securing matching gifts from their employers and the employers of their donors. Please check with your company’s HR department and ask your friends who donate to inquire about their companies’ policies as well.

With a little effort you can do it, even if you’ve never fundraised for a remarkable cause before.

4. Complete your outdoor adventure

Be safe and have fun outside!

Once the fundraising and planning are complete, it’s time to get outside and lead your Outdoor Adventure for Kids. When you’re finished your OAK, don’t forget to share photos and stories on your personalized website.

5. Share your adventure, collect free gear

You’ve helped BAWT get kids outdoors! Tell everyone how much fun you had, show off pictures and enjoy that free gear.
