Redefining Wilderness aims to discuss values, ideas, and definitions encompassing “wilderness” as a means to broaden the current wilderness paradigm and to illuminate the possibilities for an expansion of wilderness experiences, including its use, conservation, and restoration for current and future generations.

This dialog on wilderness will include the academic and public spheres while incorporating a diverse range of social perspectives.

A conceptual statement articulating current wilderness values, ideas, and definitions will be developed at the close of the symposium.
