An Important Update from Bay Area Wilderness Training

July 15, 2019

Dear BAWT Community,

Thank you for your ongoing support. During this period of transition, the BAWT team continues to be hard at work delivering quality services that create equitable access to outdoor experiences for youth of color and low-income youth.

As for BAWT’s day-to-day operations, we are business as usual! We’re excited to share that our Program Director, Liza Dadiomov, and Development Director, Sierra Lawe, have stepped up to support BAWT as Interim Organizational Leaders.  They are supported by a strong and dedicated staff, our Board Chair, Sharon Gillars, and Advisory Board. The advisory board is leading the search for the next Organizational Leader.

BAWT was created based on the understanding that all youth deserve outdoor experiences. Today, we continue moving in that direction while also placing focus on how to support the communities we work within. BAWT remains committed to increasing equitable access to the outdoors for youth who are historically underrepresented in these spaces. Please stay tuned as we continue reaching out to you in order to identify how we can best serve these youth.

As we look ahead, we also pause to reflect on everything BAWT has accomplished in the past 20 years, which would not have been possible without you, the BAWT Community. We want to thank each and every one of you for the years of support you’ve given us and the kinship you’ve built with us. You are why we are here and we’re excited for the next 20 years of service to this community.

With deep gratitude,

The BAWT Staff and Advisory Board
