First FLT Training a success
A group of 9 camping novices participated in the Frontcountry Leadership Training on June 12th and June 13th at the Henry Coe State Park. They are now ready to take their youth on car-camping trips. This new training allows for a great alternative to the Wilderness Leadership Training, and will help us train more youth leaders. Pictures available on Facebook.

Mt. Hood Climbing for Kids Climbers decide – “Lets avoid avalanches!”
“Lots of SNOW!” is the biggest piece of the story on BAWT’s first Climbing for Kids climb of the 2010 season. Brian Ulman, from Helena Montana, and John Waggoner, age 76 and three time Climbing for Kids climber, were joined by Kyle Macdonald, BAWT’s CEO, on June 10-12th as they ascended to 10,500 ft. on Mt. Hood to raise valuable funds for BAWT. After a lift from the Snowcat, which is all part of the Mt. Hood climb experience, they began their ascent at 1:30AM and hit the “Hogsback”- a moving, giant snowdrift – just after dawn. This season has seen a highly unusual amount of late snow, which increased the risk of a big slide. Given their speed, and the chance of avalanche as they approached the “old chute” route, they decided to avoid the risk in order to climb another day. Many thanks to Brian and John!
