Danelia is San Francisco born, Bay Area raised. Her ancestral roots are in Central America, specifically Honduras and El Salvador. She is a dreamer, healer and hope dealer. Her story with BAWT and love for the outdoors began in high school while on her first backpacking trip using BAWT gear. She became a BAWT instructor in 2014 and has served her community through her work in nonprofits and community-based organizations. She is a graduate of the Outdoor Educators Institute (Fall 2013), Rising Leaders Fellowship (2015), and Train the Trainer (2022), all programs of Justice Outside. She currently works part-time as a Recreation Leader with San Francisco Recreation and Parks and sits on the steering committee for the Richmond Outdoors Coalition. Her life's work centers on deepening healing connections and serving as a bridge uniting people, and their communities. She is a space holder and believes nature is medicine. She believes in the wisdom communities hold to activate support toward a more radically just world.
