Bay Area Wilderness Training staff believe our work stands vehemently against the strikedown of Roe V. Wade. We are outraged at the disdain for a person’s most intimate freedoms by the Supreme Court. One of BAWT’s primary goals is to support positive societal outcomes for youth, all while we encourage autonomy to create a life they envision for themselves. Alongside the youth we serve, we approach the same goal for our program participants, families and educators of youth that encompass communities that will also be impacted by the Supreme Court ruling.
Knowing how fragile legal protections become for our BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities after the overturn of Roe V. Wade, BAWT remains committed to speak out about injustices when they happen. Although we live in California where protections for reproductive rights remain, our youth and greater community deserves to explore and lead positive change throughout our country – without fear of geography impacting their human rights.
